Serve as a Yeoman in the U.S. Coast Guard
As with any large organization, good human-resources management is vital to the Coast Guard.
If you have good organization skills and good interpersonal skills, you can qualify to be a Yeoman (YN) in the Coast Guard Reserve. We are looking for men and women who know how to make things happen — the indispensable behind-the-scenes personnel that make any well-oiled organization hum.
YNs in the Reserve, can typically be found at reserve units in communities nationwide. Although most units that employ YNs are located in larger metropolitan areas, there are opportunities to serve at group offices in smaller localities.
You must have the ability to use computers extensively to research issues on the Internet and the CG Intranet, prepare spreadsheets and word-processing documents, and perform data entry and retrieval.
Your training will qualify you for such civilian jobs as:
• Human Resources Specialist
• Executive Assistant
• Personnel Manager
• Administrative Assistance
Give back to your country and community one weekend a month and two weeks each year while supplementing your income, earning great benefits, valuable training, and experience! Some of the benefits you will be eligible for include:

All candidates applying for enlistment into the U.S. Coast Guard must meet basic age, physical, mental, civil, and citizenship eligibility criteria. Qualification for enlistment also requires passing an Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), and physical exam. Contact your local recruiter for qualifications. Reservists may be activated at times of emergency or disaster.
